CRAIG'S PROJECT SUMMARY
Description:
I have an ongoing project to test all new ICRH tetrodes on arrival and also to confirm that current usage is maintained within the agreed specifications for operations.
Objectives:
Cataloging all new tetrodes on arrival, inspecting for any visible damage that could have occurred during transit.
Measuring capacitances between key components to confirm they are within agreed specification.
Testing the voltage stand off between key components inside the amplifier up to a maximum voltage of 50kV DC.
Checking that connecting systems i.e. water cooling systems flow rates, pressures, power supply voltages, etc are within agreed speciation.
Comments:
As part of the project I was involved in contract negotiations with our supplier in Geneva. This gave me the opportunity to have a tour round the facility and witness the effort that is required to construct one of our tetrode amplifiers. A few months after the negotiations I gave the supplier a tour of our facility. From the tour a few recommendations were made to our current system to increase the lifespan of our amplifiers. These suggestions are now being investigated, creating further projects for the section.
