We normally have an attractive range of engineering opportunities for the right candidates.

What we offer
Typical positions can include:

Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers and Physicists

Mechanical Engineers
Graduate engineers able to design, procure, commission, operate and maintain the complex systems used on the JET and MAST tokamaks at Culham. Engineers are required to undertake stress and thermal analysis of existing components procurement of new components and Project Management of significant projects aimed at delivering equipment for use at Culham and elsewhere.

Typical responsibilities include:

1. Responsibility for the FEA analytical design and procurement of complex mechanical systems, presenting work for peer and design reviews.

2. Management in design and procurement projects.

Electrical Engineers
Degree-qualified (or equivalent) electrical engineers to take responsibility for the pulsed power supplies system, including personnel and plant safety, operation, maintenance, fault-finding, repair and modification.

Typical responsibilities include:

1. Project and contract management of both small and large contracts involving complex power electronic systems.

2. Undertaking analysis, detailed design, preparation of technical specifications, supervision of installation and commissioning of modifications.

Physicists
Degree-qualified (or equivalent) physicists to support the operation of complex heating and diagnostic systems on both JET and MAST.

Typical responsibilities include:

Development and maintenance of modelling codes, in particular for the design and specification of performance upgrades and diagnostic enhancements.

Carrying out analysis and interpretation of measurements from these systems.

You will have obtained at least 2 x A Level (or equivalent) and a minimum 2.1 degree.

We offer a generous leave allowance and access to final salary pension plan.

Salary will be at the standard graduate entry level, starting at around £23,000 p.a.
